Publication Ethics
Jurnal Hukum Legalita is committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics and takes all possible measures against publication malpractice. All parties involved in the act of publishing (editors, authors, reviewers, and publishers) are expected to adhere to the following ethical principles, based on the guidelines from the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
A. General Ethics in Journal Publishing

Clearly identifying the journal name, scientific scope, publication frequency, and accreditation status.

Transparently disclosing the composition and expertise of the Editorial Board.

Establishing ethical and professional relationships among authors, editors, reviewers, publishers, and related stakeholders.

Ensuring confidentiality of all parties involved, including authors, editors, reviewers, and research contributors.

Respecting intellectual property rights, especially concerning copyright and licensing.

Introducing editorial policies to all stakeholders (authors, editorial board, reviewers, and readers).

Providing clear guidelines for the code of conduct of editors and peer reviewers.

Publishing issues consistently and on schedule.

Ensuring adequate resources are available for sustainable publishing.

Developing collaborative networks and journal dissemination strategies.
-
Managing all legal and licensing aspects properly and transparently.
B. Code of Ethics for Editors

Committing to the continuous improvement of publishing standards.

Ensuring the scientific quality and integrity of published articles.

Upholding the author’s academic freedom and right to express their ideas.

Preserving the academic record and author reputation.

Facilitating corrections, clarifications, retractions, and apologies where necessary.

Acknowledging that content and statements in the paper are the full responsibility of the authors.

Evaluating submissions objectively and fairly to avoid editorial bias and errors.

Avoiding conflicts of interest and ensuring editorial independence.
-
Encouraging authors to improve their manuscripts before publication.

Maintaining transparency, accountability, and fairness throughout the editorial process.
C. Code of Ethics for Peer Reviewers

Evaluating manuscripts objectively and in accordance with academic standards.

Reviewing submissions in a timely and professional manner.
-
Providing constructive and useful feedback to help improve the manuscript.

Maintaining confidentiality of the manuscript and review process.

Declining to review if there is a direct or indirect conflict of interest.

Not using unpublished content for personal benefit or third-party purposes.

Following the journal’s review criteria and procedures.

Refraining from focusing on grammar or typographical errors, unless they affect understanding.

Assessing originality, significance, clarity, and contribution to the field.

Rejecting reviews outside their expertise or if unable to meet the deadline.

Submitting honest, clear, and well-supported recommendations, including:

Accepted without revision

Accepted with minor revisions (no second review needed)

Accepted with major revisions (resubmitted for peer review)

Rejected but resubmission encouraged

Rejected due to scientific or ethical flaws

Ensuring that all reviewed content remains confidential and is not reused without permission.
D. Code of Ethics for Authors

Authors are fully responsible for the content, methods, analysis, calculations, and conclusions of their manuscripts.

Authors must respond promptly and professionally to reviewers' comments and suggestions.

Authors must notify the editor in case of withdrawal.
-
Authors must disclose research limitations honestly.
-
Authors must not publicize the research content through media or interviews before official publication.

Authors must disclose if the article is part of a larger or phased study.

Manuscripts must be original, unpublished, and not under consideration elsewhere.

Authors must inform the editor or publisher of any significant errors found after publication.

Proper permissions and acknowledgments must be obtained for any copyrighted material.
-
Citations must refer accurately to the sources used, and only include works that were actually consulted.

New findings or improvements must reference previous works properly.
-
Authors must provide ethical clearance documentation upon request (e.g., field notes, ethical approvals).

Authors must respond to any post-publication queries or feedback in a responsible manner.
